The original H.M.S. Bounty set sail in 1787 for Tahiti under the command of Lt. William Bligh. They were commissioned to obtain fruit plantings to the Caribbean to provide food for the British colonies. It was a difficult voyage and on April 28, 1789 12 crew members staged the now famous mutiny and captured the ship. Lt. Bligh was set adrift. The ship was burnt at Pitcairn Island 1790 after being stripped of everything useful. Original ship measures: 85' long x 24 ' wide x 11 ' deep. Weight 220 lbs.
